is increasing with more emergency room visits and more hospitalizations (Barker and Meletis, 2004). At the same time, asthmatic children and their parents think their condition is under control but
surveys by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America reveal that is not true (About, Inc., 2006). That same survey revealed that most people did not really know much about
this condition or what to do to prevent attacks. It is crucial for parents and the diagnosed children to know about asthma, how to prevent it, and what to do
in the case of an attack. Two goals: #1 Goal: Increase parents knowledge about asthma and how to reduce their childs asthma episodes by 80 percent. A multimodal educational course
will be offered to all parents whose children have asthma. Pamphlets will be attractively designed and easy to read. These will be distributed to parents. Parents knowledge of general information
about childhood asthma and how to reduce episodes will be assessed through a survey before pamphlets are distributed. There will be two weekly group meetings attended by an expert in
childhood asthma from the public health department. Meetings will be 30 minutes long. At the end of the two-week course, parents will have increased their knowledge by 80 percent. Some
of the things parents can do to reduce the possibility of an attack is to keep the house dusted and vacuumed and not smoking in the house. Another good thing
