These theories are found in psychology, sociology and other disciplines as well. Jean Piaget provides some of the more interesting of those theories. Piaget was responsible for the development of several branches of psychology, the most notable of which were developmental psychology, cognitive theory, and genetic epistemology. Piagets work is of direct benefit in helping adults understand and explain why some children react in one manner when confronted with a situation and others react in an entirely different manner. That Jean Piaget is widely hailed even today in the field of child psychology is not surprising given his utter brilliance.
