Numerous theories have been formulated to explain a childs relationship with their world. These theories
are found in psychology, sociology and other disciplines as well. Jean Piaget provides some of the more interesting of those theories. Piaget was responsible for the development of
several branches of psychology, the most notable of which were developmental psychology, cognitive theory, and genetic epistemology. Piagets work is of direct benefit in helping adults understand and explain
why some children react in one manner when confronted with a situation and others react in an entirely different manner. This work is of particular benefit in explaining a
childs interactions not just with the material aspects of their world but also the humanistic aspects. That Jean Piaget is widely hailed even
today in the field of child psychology is not surprising given his utter brilliance. Piaget published his first scientific paper when he was only ten years old and his
career as a whole spanned all the way to his death at the age of eighty-four. Piagets work is constantly revisited by other child psychologists both in attempts to
