Most people like to assume they are honest and good people, and that they uphold the ideals of honesty. But, in truth the society is not truthful nor is it
honest! The society, and the successful in society, is supported through dishonesty and an internal lack of integrity. It may well be that this has always been the case throughout
history of most cultures as the society puts on an outward face of nobility and honesty but inwardly expects and relies on the dishonest elements in order to gain something
of power. The following paper takes this perspective and argues that in todays society, and perhaps in many societies, cheating is actually necessary to get ahead. Cheating is
Necessary It is perhaps important to first put aside the notion that honesty is important. When one is really asked why they think
honesty is important, or asked what difference it makes to be honest or not, people will perhaps state that only through being honest can they be good people, that they
can help others, that they can feel good about themselves. If people arent honest then no one can know what is truth, what is really going on, and whether someone
can actually be trusted. But, if those notions are put aside one can plainly see that cheating makes no difference at all in how the world or society behaves. People
can ultimately only assume they are the only ones living and thinking and analyzing. They tell the truth so they can feel alright about themselves but if they do not
care about honesty, if that has no bearing on how they feel about themselves, then cheating isnt wrong. It isnt taking anything away from someone else, it isnt doing anything
