Henrik Ibsens A Doll House, which is set after the end of the plays and presents these characters in a new situation and conflict. A small crowd gathers outside
a dimly lit cabaret near dockside in a popular port of call. Inside the cabaret, the scene is crowded. With many men standing at the back and crowded around
the sides, as well as sitting at the tables. A hush comes over the crowd, as a spotlight lands on a dingy curtain that parts to reveal the slender legs
of the dancer. Her high-heel clad feet start a staccato rhythm as the curtain is draws back to reveal a stunningly beautiful woman. Her hair hangs loosely around her
shoulders and she wears the garb of Neapolitan fisher-girl. Her peasant blouse exposes her white shoulders and neck, and her multi-colored skirt flashes as she dances a Tarantella
that is both seductive and yet still innocent. The men in the cabaret hoot their appreciation. The dancer twirls faster and faster, yet still manages to give one sailor,
who is sitting by himself in a corner, a seductive smile. He smiles back, but without the enthusiasm that one might expect. After her set, he moves toward the stage
and makes his way to her dressing room. He knocks, but then quickly enters the room, knowing that she is expecting him. The dancer, who is in the
midst of changing her clothes, abandons her task and runs to his arms half-clothed. "Darling," she squeals, "did you like me tonight? Wasnt I marvelous?" Noras face is as
animated as a child. brimming with joyful enthusiasm and obvious pride in her dancing and herself. Tom Wingfield smiles his acknowledgement. "You were wonderful, as always, my little darling
