films, was the releases of The Blue Max in 1966. Based on the novel by Jack Hunter, The Blue Max features a character by the name of Bruno Stachel. This
protagonist is larger than life. His every thought is detailed in the scope of the novel, but in the filmed version, Stachel lacks depth. His character is turned into some
sort of super hero as he confronts enemies and acts accordingly. It is not that the written story contains no violence, but it appears that the focus of attention is
on what the movie is aligned with and this is not the case as it respects the book. The characterization of the protagonist in The Blue Max, Bruno Satchel, is
rather stern and ordinary in the novel, but bold and violent in the film version. In many ways, the book is more successful than the movie in creating a three
dimensional character in the form of Stachel. It seems that the book version is stronger primarily because it provides more insight into the character than the film is capable. This
is at least in part attributable to the limitations of film as a medium. The author has many opportunities to include snippets in respect to the character of this man,
but the film is limited to visual aspects only. This tends to be true for most any book turned movie. The medium, according to a student writing on this subject,
does allow for more fully developed characters, but there are other reasons why the book is more successful and more able to create a deeper character. The film was more
