perspective; through assorted events viewed through the biblical authors characterization, one gains a significantly better understanding of Jonah by way of his words, actions and encounters with the biblical God.
Based upon these inferences, one can conclude how the authors reasons for and/or defenses of Jonahs actions provide the foundation upon which mankind must learn from and compromise with
lifes perpetual need for restructure. The author illustrates how Jonahs defiance toward Gods declaration to "Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh! Announce my judgment against
it because I have seen how wicked its people are" caused him to draw what well may have been his last breath; running away in anger turned out to be
the worst thing he could do, ultimately proving to questions Gods omnipotence. This proverbial slap in the face, from the authors viewpoint, sets in motion a chain of events
that had to occur if Jonah was ever to regain his unquestioning faith. The miracle Jonah experiences - not only escaping the whales belly alive but also coming to his

all-knowing commands. Jonah, however, does not lose his anger entirely as he imparts Gods message upon Nineveh, instead harboring fury over His not destroying those Jonah looked upon as enemies.
