should be created so that a harmonious situation occurs. A market culture for example is one that is driven by a strong external focus (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2007). This information is geared for businesses and analysis of organizations. Yet, it may be applied to politics as well. Clearly, a nation is comprised of many of the same elements as are companies. Nations contain people who have relationships and responsibilities with one another. Therefore, it is appropriate to use business literature to address public issues. A student provides a case study where in 2004, the United States would go through a highly polarized presidential election cycle. In reality, the election of focus was so divided that it went to the Supreme Court for clarity. The assignment provided by a student is to assume that one is a member of a group of advisors to the new administration and to put together a task force to recommend changes to get past the polarization of America. In examining this issue, an understanding may be gleaned through information to come from the Kreitner & Kinicki (2007) material. That is, one can see that there is an external focus but, as a system, stability should be a key motivating factor. The goal of this task force is to reduce the friction between the people. Kreitner & Kinicki (2007) do go on to note that organizational culture is important and it is not predetermined. That is, the organizational culture can be changed. If one thinks of the United States as an organization as opposed to a nation, what can be altered to create a desirable outcome? How can the polarization be minimized?
