taken years off of the career development process. The need to adapt to new workplace realities has caused many to shift focus every couple of years, every year, or
even every few months. Not all of this change seems good. But most in the healthcare industry would say that they
firmly believe that the changes that are the most stressful sometimes are more valuable than those that go smoothly because they allow them to come face to face with reality
and learn from mistakes. In doing so, people tend to become stronger and more successful in their careers (Anspaugh 1997).
The most strategic-minded members of the healthcare profession are actively branching out in different directions. More and more we will be seeing financial managers who will follow these leaders
and seize opportunities - either within or outside their current roles - to secure a promising future (Anspaugh 1997). As the healthcare industry progresses, organizations may become more team-oriented
and less centralized. The traditional executive-level professional who makes all the decisions will become less common. More decisions will be made by teams, thereby placing increasing importance on mentoring within
this new management style. This is considered a positive effect of the healthcare change (Anspaugh 1997). As managers, it is
