he still adored. But reports began to surface suggesting the O.J. was not the football player everyone has come to know and love. Rather, some evidence did surface suggesting that
Nicole had been beaten on occasion and that further, O.J. had engaged in stalking behaviors. Nicole Simpson to some, had become a statistic, and when her own sister realized what
had happened, she became an advocate for battered women everywhere. There have been other famous cases that brought wife battering to the forefront. One involved the beating death of a
little girl in New York and it was discovered that the mother had stood by, she herself psychologically and physically battered. While such cases bring the issue to the forefront,
in the past, much of this was ignored. The old biblical dictum that the woman should obey the man has been embraced by a society that does not see much
wrong with a shove or two to keep the little lady in line. But things have drastically changed as women flee to shelters and are warned of the dangers of
staying with an abusive husband. If a woman does not get out in time she risks further injury and death for both herself and her children. While the common thinking
on the subject is that the woman is in danger, there are also cases in which the man is battered. In the O.J. Simpson case, for example, he alleged that
Nicole would get physical too. Further, some feminists object to the notion that women are treated as damsels in distress. While some claim that women, and men, can use
