Changing Oil in a Car Before actually changing the oil in a car it is important that the individual purchase all the necessary items for changing oil. It is
recommended that the individual get 6 quarts of good oil, and generally the oil recommended by the automobile manufacturer for that particular make and model of car (Bentz, 2006). Most
cars will require about 5 quarts of oil but the additional quart is kept within the car for later use if needed during operation of the car (Bentz, 2006).
It is also important to purchase an oil filter for with every oil change it is crucial a new oil filter be installed
as well (Bentz, 2006). Bentz (2006) indicates a good filter and "When I say good filter, I mean one that will do the job removing the carbon and such from
the engine oil" (Bentz, 2006). It is suggested that the best always be used for a cheap filter will leave the engine more at risk and the cost of a
new engine, or an engine overhaul, is far more than the price difference between a cheap and good filter (Bentz, 2006). In addition, if the individual does not already possess
