be utilized in experiments? What about humans? Similarly, in terms of space exploration, the government funds NASA and its ventures because it is thought that space exploration is good. It
will produce new and spontaneous information, the likes of which have never been thought about before. At the same time, there is controversy there as well. Some say that problems
on Earth should be taken care of first. Still, when all is said and done, there is money for science in a good part of the twentieth, as well as
in the twenty-first centuries. This was not always the case. In respect to sources of funding for scientific research, there have been a myriad of changes since the 1800s. First,
it pays to look at what the situation was like during the eighteenth the nineteenth centuries. A case in point is The Board of Longitude for example, which was
an organization that was founded in 1714 (James, 1991). During the time period, there were many scientific discoveries. For instance, there was the aim of advancing in terms of methodology
when uncovering longitude at sea (1991). This situation had been for the most part resolved by the 1770s but by the 1820s the Board that included many members from the
scientific community had been under a threat during the "governments retrenchment programme" (1991, p.28). Its primary task, had been the preparation of the Nautical Almanac, and this is something that
