that will stress the ideas of trust, integrity, and accountability (2002)? One idea is to have CEOs remake their firms into paragons of corporate responsibility, and then lure investors through
their virtue (2002). Indeed, the concept of making a reputation for corporate responsibility an investable theme is a new idea for Corporate America today (2002). This is just one type
of change, but one can also decide upon and justify changes that might be related to a changes in technology that all corporations experience. How might one determine and
justify changes from a corporate culture of a large, old technology firm in order to encourage innovation? It is important to note that old technology firms seem like dinosaurs compared
with up and coming companies and especially those that are net based. While that is the case, one has to look at specific changes such a firm might make in
respect to the corporate culture. In order to embark on that journey, a look at just what corporate culture is, is rather appropriate. The term corporate culture is often
used an misused but what is it really? Smith (1998) says that the primary difference between corporate culture and societal culture is that corporate culture is based on "the visible
practices of an organization, and may be consciously changed; national culture, on the other hand, may change little, if at all, over time" (1998,p.60). Smith says managers who propose
to change culture have the function of molding corporate culture so that it is amenable to incorporating initiatives they want to embrace and to modify corporate practices so that they
