A 4 page paper discussing how the roles of women changed as Mexico moved into its colonial period in the early 18th century. Prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, Mexico's society was one of informal polygamy and all worked for the good of the group to which they belonged. Soon after the arrival of the Christians, however, women had been assigned all the duties of maintaining home and family and were married to men who had absolute mental and legal control over them.
