the difficulty of change is such a wide spread organisation. Recent events have shown the difficulties involved in the way a company can adapt to change. The recent threat
of terrorist has impacted on flights, with a short term grounding and changed security measures out in place by the British Airport Authority (BAA), these has a knock on effect
on BA with delayed flights and a large amount of misdirected luggage. For many years there had been an unspoken rule between BA and BAA not to air dirty laundry
in public, but as the reputation of BA was being tarnished with many delays as a result of the inability of BAA to deal with the harsh new security measures.
This change in the environment has seen BA take a more proactive approach to protect its reputation when BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh stated "We are ready and able to
operate a full schedule at Heathrow," he said in a statement. "We have sufficient flying crew, ground staff and aircraft in place. However, BAA is unable to provide a robust
security search process and baggage operation, and as a result we are being forced to cancel flights and operate others without all the passengers on board" (Quoted OConnell, 2006).
This was a change and indicates the importance of public image and the way this is managed, in the past the attitude was one of avoiding sullying the image of
