Essay / Research Paper Abstract
An 8 page paper discussing two environmental problems in China (the Three Gorges Dam and air pollution) and measures that the government has or may take to mitigate the environmental effects. In contrast is the experience of Singapore, which adopted stringent environmental regulations when its economic growth led to environmental degradation. Singapore was able to address growing environmental problems before they came to be ingrained in systems and operations, and after MNEs became dependent on Singapore's markets and workforce. Likely its small size also contributed to dedication to environmental sustainability, an advantage that China does not have. Bibliography lists 6 sources. PowerPoint presentation available.

the government is beginning to take note and take steps to avert further environmental damage resulting from industrial activity. Chinas Plight The building
boom in Chinas largest cities continues unabated. As the worlds multinational enterprises (MNEs) sought entry into China, the government began requiring them to locate in areas of the country
well outside of the southeast province where it had contained capitalist pursuits beginning in 1979. The consequences for the rest of the world are similar to the effect the
baby boom generation had as it moved through progressive ages in the United States. As the first of the baby boomers reached school age, local districts found themselves with
pressing need to add student capacity in local school systems. The boomers changed much about public education, then they supplied the nations colleges and universities with the need for
