the continent of Europe was looking at its own structure and implementing change in many ways. England was certainly at the forefront of change during the 17th century and their
change instilled some change in other countries within Europe. In "Century of Revolution, 1603-1714" by Christopher Hill we are presented with many intriguing looks at the changes that were taking
place in England, changes that would influence other nations. In the following paper we examine Hills work, first providing a summary of the work and then reviewing the significance of
his work. Summary First and foremost it should be noted that Hills book is divided incredibly clearly, presenting the reader with clear and concise periods during the 17
century. For example, Part One of his work details the time from 1603-1640. Part Two consists of an examination of the time from 1640-1660, Part Three is 1660-1688, and Part
Four is 1688-1714. In each part is divided into sections with each part possessing an examination of the same elements of the time period. The author describes a narrative of
the events, economics, politics and the constitution, religion and ideas, and provides a conclusion to the specific period in the 17th century. From this simple understanding of the format
of the text we can see that Hill is taking the reader on a very structured journey which examines the turmoil in 17th century Europe, more specifically England. And, with
each changing period comes different approaches to each of the categories described by Hill. The details of the events and how these events influenced different aspects of the culture
