Please I. A New World, A New Beginning It is the nature of mankind to invent, achieve and excel. From
his earliest beginnings, man has possessed a spirit of innovation and imagination that has plucked the ponderous thoughts from his inquisitive mind and given wings to many of his wildest
and most incredible dreams. From the moment he mastered the uses of fire and discovered the wonder of the wheel, he has used this spark of creativity to ignite
his imagination and blaze a trail of achievement that has gained momentum down through the centuries. The sixteenth century marked a period of mankinds existence in which he began to
widen his horizons and stretch the limits of his imagination beyond the boundaries that had been placed upon it by the societal structure of developing civilization and culture. Beginning
with its discovery by Christopher Columbus at the end of the fifteenth century, America was to symbolize a New World, a world that would ultimately come to stand for the
ideals of freedom and innovation and would become the stage of the greatest of mankinds achievements throughout the following centuries. II. The Seventeenth Century - A Century of Discovery
Mans greatest achievement of the seventeenth century was the wealth of discoveries and revelations he achieved concerning the world around him and his own personal place within this world.
By the seventeenth century, he had managed to develop the art of watercraft construction to a degree that allowed him to explore this world as was never before possible.
