good plan. Also, this strategy was a rather unique idea at the time. However, significant issues in organizational design include things such as complex versus flat organizational structures, the
span of control, departmentalization and finally, the issue of centralization versus decentralization (PG). Indeed, in the past few decades in corporate structuring, many issues crop up and decentralization or
centralization are relevant in creating a company structure. It is also important in the public sector, especially in education. In terms of centralization versus decentralization, many issues crop up and
the concept affects a variety of sectors in society. In the business world, as well as in the public sector, the idea of making decisions at the local level versus
the concept of having decisions being made in unity for all affected, is a very general idea. What are the fundamental differences between centralization and decentralization? In a
corporate situation with a variety of locations, a decentralized structure generally provides for the possibility that each store achieves its own global optimum; this may be done by tailoring
its practices to its own customer base (Chang and Harrington Jr. 1427). For example, if one were to open a Kentucky Fried Chicken in midtown Manhattan, it might be
open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, but if opened in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, store managers might decide to close it on Friday night at
