have undergone tremendous transformations in recent years, which have influenced various cultural, political, and social aspects of contemporary society. Catholicism is a religion that in tradition and rituals
identifies itself as "the only true church," with everything that exists outside its theological parameters "labeled false and branded as heresy" (Noble, 2000). Its doctrines state that the Catholic
Church was founded by Jesus Christ, and that His message was sent via the anointed apostle Peter (Noble, 2000). Jesus selected the onetime Jew turned Christian convert Paul to
be his disciple and lead followers toward salvation. The concept of Catholicism as the "Body of Christ" was not adopted officially until 313 A.D. (Noble, 2000). Priests are
the Catholic followers direct contacts with Jesus Christ, and the priests of each region elect a bishop to represent them. The Bishop of Rome is better known by the
title of Pope (papa), who resides in an elaborate palace in Italys Vatican City and is regarded as the patriarch of the Catholic Church. Priests are expected to be
celibate, and sex is to be reserved for married couples only for the purpose of procreation. The primary doctrine that governs Catholicism is the Nicene Creed, which expresses the
view that Jesus Christ is divine. The First and Second Councils allowed the Vatican to offer some clarification as well as make necessary reforms or additions that would enable
Catholicism to change with the times. Practices are based upon the seven sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist (with bread and wine representing the body and blood of Jesus Christ),
