simple but it is indeed a very complex subject. In his book, The Universe Next Door, James Sire defined worldview: "A world view is a set of presuppositions (assumptions which
may be true, partially true or entirely false) which we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic make-up of our world" (Olson, 2002). Mostly, our own worldview
lies hidden in the deep recesses of our minds, we just do not think about what we think about things like nor do we question whatever assumptions we hold on
issues, such as "life, death, good and evil, and so much more" (Olson, 2002). This is true of Catholics just as it is of anyone else thus, Catholics who do
not consider their attitudes, beliefs and presuppositions, they have no way of knowing if they are living a truly Catholic life (Olson, 2002). Olson stated that "a Catholic world view
must be organic and cohesive, it is made up of specific elements, each worthy of attention" (Olson, 2002). Different people have offered different lists of the characteristics of a Catholic
worldview (Olson, 2002; Zanzig, 2004). We have attempted to consolidate their lists and added justification for them here. As Olson said, no list is completely comprehensive, but this is a
beginning point, particularly as one prepares to teach the topic to high school students. 1. Theistic. There is only one God and he is Other (Olson, 2002). This is
rooted in the First Commandment: "I am the Lord your God . . . You shall have no other gods before Me" (Deuteronomy 5:6, 7). (also see CCC: 325, 1993).
