Casinos offer many advantages to communities in terms of the monies that they provide both directly and indirectly
and even in terms of considerations such as recreation, tourism, and leisure. Casinos, whether they are operated by Native Americans under the provisions of their tribal sovereignty or by
non-Native Americans contribute significant funding to both local and state government. These are contributions on which many local and state entities have come to depend. They are used
to supplement the budget in a diversity of ways. Casinos, however, have both plusses and negatives that must be considered for the communities involved, for those that frequent them,
and even for those entities that operate them. The intent of this paper is to explore both the positives and the negatives of casino operation, to review the literature,
and to come to a conclusion regarding the relative value of casinos for both the communities and the entities operating them.

even superior quality. This search can also be used to identify references to materials which even if they are unavailable online, can later be found in a traditional library.
