is one of the largest travel companies in existence. The company has respectable profits, but these have shown a fall in 2003, following difficulties in the industry, such as increasing
fuel prices and increasing competition, at the same time as a weak dollar. However, the company have many strengths, with a high level of brand recognition and brands that satisfy
the different demand of various sectors in the cruise industry. Financially strong the company need to carry on with maintaining both the cost advantage as well as developing further
differentiation to attract new and retain existing travellers and restore profit levels to the pre merger level. The recommendation are that the company should carry on the way it
is going, building on the brands, but increasing markets in the non US areas to bring in stronger currencies. This will include making use fo the core compeotewnces seen in
the P&O Prince line with the use of there very strong marketing in the UK. The company need to maintain the economies of scale and as such this will mean
more passengers. An increase strategy off differentiation is also recommended, looking for new routes and destinations. B. Vision Statement The company does not have a vision statement, however, according to
their annual report they do have the aim of being the best known brand for cruising associated with value. However, the company does have a mission statement, which when we
read shows that it is also part of the vision. C. Mission Statement The mission statement for Carnival reads; "Our mission is to deliver exceptional vacation experiences through the
worlds best-known cruise brands that cater to a variety of different lifestyles and budgets, all at an outstanding value unrivaled on land or at sea" (Carnival Corp., 2004).
