whole world was undergoing as people realized they were not truly isolated in their little individual nations. For the most part this involved the western world, and not much of
the southern world, or parts of the world that were undeveloped. But, even these nations were influenced by the changes for they realized that such power, such change, such technology,
would eventually influence them directly in one way or another. In the face of such change comes changes in many other areas of individual societies and cultures as well.
And, one of the most important areas of any society or culture is the area concerned with the arts. It is in the arts that we, more often than not,
see the changes, for good or bad, that are going on in the world. This is because it is the artists who present images of subconscious thought, thoughts that reflect
the changes in many ways. While much of the change in the art world, that reflected the changes in society, that took place between the two world wars was
primarily seen through the work of Picasso and Matisse, we also note that many other nations were involved in the art world of the time as well. This brings us
to the Caribbean. Caribbean art has always been, and still is, a very private thing that truly relates to the region itself. In most ways it has not been influenced
by the outside world. In truth, the Caribbean artists and the Caribbean itself, were largely the influencers of many art movements, perhaps especially Cubism and the use of vibrant color.
