One very well-known job is the travel agent (Career Explorer, 2005). The travel agent works with people and groups, assisting them in designing their trip and then making those arrangements
(Career Explorer, 2005). Trips may be for business or leisure, whatever the purpose, the travel agent can accommodate the customer. Agents might make the air and/or ground transportation reservations, make
hotel or other lodging reservations, arrange for car rentals and advise the customer on attractions, tours, and recreational activities in their destination area (Career Explorer, 2005). There are numerous other
types of jobs in travel and tourism, such as working as a tour guide, or working at a car rental agency or in spas, convention centers or casinos (Career Explorer,
2005). This is a growing and exciting industry because there are so many different types of specific jobs available (Career Explorer, 2005). Salaries range between $13,020 and $53,410, deepening on
the specific job, length of service and amount of formal education and/or training (Career Explorer, 2005). There are also many perks when working in this industry, such as greatly reduced
or free travel and accommodations (Career Explorer, 2005). In fact, may people enter this industry because they themselves love to travel and they can do so at comparatively lesser cost
