of students who are gay, lesbian or bisexual since these student will have additional struggles when facing career decisions. Career Counseling for Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals
Typically, the majority of literature and resources about career development and counseling does not adequately address the impact which sexual orientation has on life
planning choices (Gelberg and Chojnacki, 1996). Therefore, it is important for counselors to have a good understanding of the special needs which gays, lesbians and bisexuals face in terms
of making career decisions (Gelberg and Chojnacki, 1996). Counselors have always played important roles in ushering in new educational goals and priorities. Whether helping students at risk
to acquire the insights and skills supportive to their staying in school or assisting all students to make appropriate career choices and plans which are important to both the students
and the countrys future, counselors have played a significant role in providing support for educational priorities (Bleuer and Walz, 2002). Some
of the important issues which face gays, lesbians and bisexuals include legalities such as job protection, lack of advancement opportunities, inability to file joint income tax returns, Physical or verbal
harassment, denial of health insurance for a partner, and so forth (Gelberg and Chojnacki, 1996). Obviously these are important issues - ones which people who are heterosexual likely dont
