in which what is good for one country will ultimately work for another. The truth, however, is that while goods and capital
can flow across borders, business management differs from country to country, as does branding, marketing and other factors. The multinational corporation that enters China hoping to incorporate Western management practices
is likely to have a rude awakening when it comes to the reality of the situation. For one thing, most Asian cultures do better in teams than they do as
individuals, and concepts such as "production bonuses" can be a foreign one. It is largely accepted by both scholars and practitioners that
cultural factors heavily influence international business and management practices, and the literature agrees with this assessment. The 20th century saw a huge increase in the number of "international business gurus"
who determined that different cultures determined different business, management and human resource practices. There are others, however, who believe that cultural influences have little to do with differences between countries,
and that other factors precipitate the differences. In this paper, well provide a literature review that discusses this in more detail. But
first, lets discuss cultural influences, cultural types and cultural variables. Cultural influences can have an impact on business dealings, especially if those
