cultural and artistic innovations were such that they impacted a great deal of the worlds civilizations. From his founding of Alexandria in Egypt came some of the worlds foremost scientific,
artistic, and cultural advancements in the history of mankind. Alexander the Great Alexander the Great can claim innovations and successes in nearly every facet of the human experience. He
was able to conquer most of what was considered civilized societies due to his military innovations and his scientific improvements on instruments and strategies of war. Due to his extensive
conquests he would infuse the Greek culture into all of the conquered lands. In fact, he demanded it. As a child he was fortunate enough to be born into
an influential family whose ambitions were infused into Alexanders upbringing. Among his influences, beside that of his parents, was Aristotle, the philosopher. Perhaps it was this influence that was behind
some of the decisions that Alexander made during his reign. He placed soldiers from all the various conquered lands into his army. Also, he managed to introduce a standardized currency
throughout his empire. He was mostly considered a just ruler, often replacing those appointed officials who ruled their regions too harshly. Cultural Achievements Many cultural achievements
were possible under the enforced peace in the Empire under Alexander. Philosophy had in Alexander a supporter and it flourished. The ideas of Stoicism, Cynicism, and Skepticism were introduced into
the mainstream culture. In Scientific endeavors the circumference of the Earth was measured, which is mind-boggling considering the primitive instruments that they used at the time. This was possible
only because of the merging of cultures which Alexander was passionate about doing. The merging of the Persian scholars with that in Egypt and Babylon filled in some of the
