victims of the crime seem to be out of the loop. The victims press charges and file the complaints - then, in the current system, seem to disappear. In other
words, not only is the criminal justice process very cumbersome and overly concerned about protecting the rights of the accused, it shuts the victim out. Victims dont get to participate,
unless theyre called as witnesses at the trial. The breakdown of the paper is as follows. First, well discuss the process for a
felony criminal charge filed in a state court. Following that, well discuss what the literature has to say about the effectiveness of this process. Finally, well come to our own
conclusions about whether the process includes the victim or not. The Process On television shows like "Law and Order," the process seems pretty
easy: A perpetrator commits a crime, is arrested, goes to jail, goes to court and is sentenced. But one thing we need to remember is that "Law and Order" and
its ilk are television shows, and television rarely, if ever, reflects real life. As such, the process starts from a felons arrest and
goes all the way to appeals. One thing we have to keep in mind is that the criminal justice process varies from
state to state. But the process, in general, focuses on the following stages. Investigation/interrogation. Investigation of a crime begins in a variety of
