a romantic, especially if one happens to me male? Women can be romantic and get away with it but men? Well, macho is the image there. However, it must be
said that romanticism is more than a relationship issue. Being a romantic is also a term that was generally ascribed to the changing of those prevailing classical attitudes in all
the areas, including literature, painting, music, architecture, criticism and historiography in Western civilization(Baldick). If Classical styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced, structured, and rational, then the Romantic
period was anything but those things. Romanticism emphasized the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental(Baldick). For many
years, music, art and literature had adhered to strict set of rules and regulations. All of a sudden, just as happened in Medieval England when Renaissance burst upon the scene,
people started breaking the rules! Parameters of time, phrase length, use of chords, in regards to music were being incorporated, and in the art field the subjects that were being
depicted were not classical at all in nature, nor were their use of light, some probably thought moral decency had been abandoned. However, it can be said that the influence
on the artistic forms of that day and time were not from the artists themselves, but from the ideas and influences of all the schools of thought that were, themselves,
forging new territory and pushing the envelope. This could apply to ones personality quite well, the student could mention. If someone were a person who typically forged into new territories,
did not accept the tried and true, than that person could definitely be considered a romantic. If a person were spontaneous, tended to experience emotional issues deeply and managed to
