score one for number one, takes a back seat the more pressing, deeper issues of life. For some, this only happens when a life changing event happens, forcing them to
reassess their priorities, while for others, contemplating life comes during times of great discontent. At one point or another every person on the planet will ask themselves: Is it better
to burn the candle at both ends, or is it better to live a prudent life? The very question is grating of course. It assumes, by its very nature,
that living a prudent life is the better choice of the two. But, I submit that this is not so. Each individual must assess their own strengths and weaknesses, potentials
and shortcomings and come to an understanding and acceptance of things that can and must change, and those things that will never be changed. Given this, then, living a prudent
life, while it sounds good and looks good on paper, is not the best choice. The definition of prudent is one who contemplates each move, carefully weighs the pros
and cons, then makes a decision based solely on logic. If one were purely computerized, or Vulcan, this would not be an absurd decision. However, since human beings are, by
and large, a combination of logic and illogic, it stands to follow that many decisions can and must be made without engaging in prudence. For example, falling in love is
neither prudent, nor logical. It serves no known purpose other than the biological purpose of procreation or recreation. Entering into an emotional alliance does not exhibit logic or reason. What
