or the outcome, the following is a model paper of how the supervisor might deal with a conflict situation surrounding a union employee.
Well assume that in this situation, the conflict revolves around a union employee who misses shifts without probable cause. She comes into work late, doesnt do much of anything,
is frequently absent and doesnt call in, and doesnt complete her job on time. Not only is this upsetting the supervisor, its upsetting her colleagues, who have to cover for
her to get things completed. The problem here is that the employee in question is a member of a union, and trying
to discipline any union employee is tantamount to having the entire staff walk off the job and go on strike. Basically, its next to impossible not only to discipline an
employee, but to fire one for insubordination. This is our conflict problem - how do we manage this conflict, of an employee unwilling to work and a supervisor who badly
needs her to do so? Literature Review Perhaps unsurprisingly, theres a great deal of literature about workplace conflict, whether the conflict in question
is a work-life balance issue, or a resentful employee issue. There are also a great number of recommendations when it comes to conflict resolution.
