whose basis is not Western in nature, such as that of the aboriginals of Australia, American Indians, or African religions, are incomplete and thus cannot be truly considered as complete a religion as Christianity. One of the first, if not most obvious arguments, here, is that Christianity is Western. Christianity arose from the Middle East, an off shoot of the Jewish faith, a cult, in other words. The fact that the West, namely the United States, was founded upon its principals does not make the religion any more Western than a Japanese citizen wearing denim jeans in downtown Tokyo is a cowboy. The two are not synonymous. When one speaks about a religion it is generally accepted that a religion, in its most basic form, is a belief in something other than oneself, which includes a Deity or Deities. Religion encourages worship, a certain way of portraying ethical and moral values, and in the end reduces it to an understanding of ones self, others and the world through various practices, myths, and ideas. Thus, the person who is an adherent to a certain religion is bound to it by choice, culture, or a commitment to the principles of a certain religion. The original Greek word, from which the actual word, religion, comes from literally means bound to(Larue 2004). Thus, a person is dedicated toward living a certain way, bound by the guidelines or limitations placed upon him by a certain set of governing laws. However, not only the Christian faith observes or falls into this criteria. A key aspect, for example, of the Aboriginal traditional religion is a belief in something they call, The Dreaming.
