it their charisma, their knowledge, their people skills? Todays leader is called to be more than a decision maker. In ones everyday life there have been and will be various
individuals who exemplify what Achua and Lussier call a great leader. When I was working my way through school all I could seem to think about was how many
hours I had left until I was outta here. When one is sixteen the idea of work is synonymous to a root canal. But, in hindsight, Mr. Brown was a
good man and a good employer, and now, looking back on the three years that I spent at Baskin Robbins dipping ice cream, I can see why all of the
employees loved Mr. Brown and why, even many years after they had left his employ, many would still drop by to see everyone. Lussier and Achua state that there
are several characteristics that exemplify the great leader, a leader who will be a leader in nearly any situation. Mr. Brown not only had a grasp of the basic theories,
but he was able to apply these human resource ideas and skill development to motivate even the sorriest ice cream jockey. Mr. Brown was a good student of human beings,
it can be said. He could tell in a fifteen minute interview whether the potential hire was going to fit well with the team that was already in existence and
whether he could trust this individual to uphold the high standards that he set for everyone. Lussier and Achua seem to infer that the business climate has changed so
much over the last decade so as to say that this is not the same business playground that businessmen played on before. More automation, faster communications and a global outlook
