ability of an individual to distinguish colors from one another. If one stops to think about it, the ability to distinguish colors can be a matter of survival, and
in some countries would be a matter of survival. Eating the wrong kind of plant because one was unable to distinguish the color of the berry, could prove fatal to
earlier man. Now, the lack of accurate color discrepancy can lead, one could write, to an inability to learn in a traditional educational setting. Not being able to distinguish primary
colors, one would be hard pressed to follow the directions of even a first graders homework paper, which indicates that one must count the number of blue squares and place
that number on a line. Or perhaps a person is asked to look at a bar graph and distinguish the outcome of some research in which the blue bar represents
the outcome of XYX. The ability of the mind to perceive and interpret color data is one of the more evolutionary characteristics and is one of the traits that separates
human beings from animals. This is not to say that those with color blindness or deficiencies are more animal-like. The student might want to add in this section of
the paper a brief overview of what color blindness actually is. Some things that might be mentioned are that color blindness exists in about eight percent of men and less
than one percent of women(Columbia Encyclopedia 1993). Color blindness is known to be a sex-linked characteristic that tends to be carried on the female genetic line, even though the mother
