Most people would respond: What does it matter? These sentiments seem to be echoed by the worlds leaders as the beginning of the twentieth century (1900s) when the industrial revolution drew people from the countryside to experience life in the larger cities. However, now, fully into the next millennium the effects of this pervasive way of thinking has come home to roost in the erosion of coastlines and its ultimate contamination from urban runoff. Thoughts of environmental conservation or impact were the furthest from anyones collective mind. As a result of this move from the rural to the urban, mankind sealed the fate of so many species of plant, animal, bird and fish as to be too numerous to count. How? The move to the city increased the concentration of pollution and the human population began to boom because of the access to better health care. Animals, and the environment were packed up and pushed out. Now, fully a century later, we, as the dubious heirs to this mentality have multiplied until there are very few areas in which nature has been preserved. It is safe to say that nowhere on Earth is the habitat much like it originally was. In other words, there is no place on Earth that a human being hasnt interfered with, manipulated or changed. With this in mind, what is a viable solution? Human population control has been one answer that some have proposed. However, Third World countries, such as India, and Africa, simply dont have access or the education to maintain adequate population control. Famine is widespread in these nations.
