matter is, human beings are not willing, nor motivated to do what it takes to produce these circumstances. However, now, fully into the next millennium the effects of this pervasive
way of thinking has come home to roost in the erosion of coastlines and its ultimate contamination from urban runoff. Many communities in Florida are attempting to halt coastal erosion
and pollution from runoff in an unprecedented collaboration between federal, state and local policy makers. In keeping with its mission to control pollution along its coast, most coastal
counties in Florida have agreed to oversee the protection, restoration, and enhancement of coastal areas so as to ensure the long term survival of certain species, protection of habitat and
the maintenance of recreational and scientific coastal areas(Stevens 2004). Having conducted studies in the Gulf areas, several commissions determined that runoff is a significant cause of harmful impact to the
coastlines environment and severely inhibits the achievement of the goals of the commission, especially in reference to agricultural towns in and near the Gulf. Thoughts of environmental conservation or
impact were the furthest from anyones collective mind. As a result of this move from the rural to the urban, mankind sealed the fate of so many species of plant,
animal, bird and fish as to be too numerous to count. How? The move to the city increased the concentration of pollution and the human population began to boom because
of the access to better health care. Animals, and the environment were packed up and pushed out. Now, fully a century later, we, as the dubious heirs to this mentality
have multiplied until there are very few areas in which nature has been preserved. It is safe to say that nowhere on Earth is the habitat much like it originally
