easier and less expensive to produce these computers (especially if theyre mass-manufactured). Most of the world is becoming connected to the Internet (though not as quickly as some would believe),
and this is another reason why computers make an interesting product choice -- one needs a computer for an Internet connection, in most cases (though televisions are becoming Internet tools,
too). But why China? As well see in the following section, China is a difficult country in terms of infrastructure, government and
even culture (if the product in question comes from a Western society. Yet China, itself, is a billion-dollar market, especially with its rising middle class, and consumer demand from this
class. If our company can tap into this particular market (and do so by going through the challenges that doing business in China represents), then our company will be doing
very well indeed. The import levels for the product in the country of your choice. There are few imports in this
particular market, partly because of culture, and partly because the demand, until recently, simply hasnt been there. Dell Computers, a U.S.-based company, has a presence in Hong Kong (which many
believe could end up boosting this company into China at some point in the near future) (BizAsia.com, 2003). According to Gartner Research,
