something more fun-looking. Toys R Us has everything divided by age - with Fisher Price and other toddler-appropriate toys in one section, toy cars in another and older-kid toys in
a third. But whats interesting to note is that while the toddler toys were gender-neutral in terms of colors, designs and even toy style, the older the age demographic, the
more segregated the gender. For example, dolls were kept separate from action figures, while jewelry-making kits and Easy-Bake type of stuff was separated from model cars and airplanes. Within those
categories, there wasnt necessarily an emphasis on race or culture so much. But there was definitely a difference in gender, with the "girl toys" tending toward bright colors and pastels,
and the "boy toys" taking on the deep reds and darker colors. The conclusion we came to from this is that, while
early toys tend to be gender-neutral, once the toys pass toddler-approved stages, there is definite segregation in terms of packaging and style. Literature Review
