combine to create a character that not only has the ability to make the reader care, but to inspire. His use of language is deceptive in its conversational tone: "I
am a middle-aged non-Indian who wears his hair in a thinning ponytail copied originally from the traditional style long hair of the leaders of the American Indian movement of the
1970s, because I thought it looked cool"(Frazier 1). The student, in creating his own paper, may wish to choose someone, perhaps a parent,
who is very close to them in order to make an accurate description. Frazier in his work "On the Rez" described Crazy Horse and his motivation against the US Government
many years ago in the plains. A similar depiction of ones father might go something like the following. My father, a well-worn
leather duster of a man, lost his beautiful wife while he was still young enough to be hurt. From the perspective of a young boy, looking up to ones father,
it is difficult to explain the tears that course down the proud lions face, or to see the shaggy mane grow coarse from grief. Strong, full of pride, my father
