Bunker (2008) points out, for example, that any management of transition needs to include an understanding and acceptance that not all employees may be
as far along as the leader or senior management might be. What also needs to be taken into account that not all people are going to respond in the same
way - some might be willing to ride out the change, while others might be depressed or powerless (Bunker, 2008). Bunker
also points out that employees might end up with several types of responses - those who are entrenched (who dont want the change at all); who are overwhelmed (where they
feel powerless); where theyre posing (where theyre pretending they like the change, but deep down, are frightened) or the learner (where people might feel the change is challenging, but are
in control) (Bunker, 2008). Furthermore, an understanding of how implementation will impact OB behavior is also important (Page and Kelly, 2008). Even
in an organization that recognizes that change is important and necessary, some employees will still be resistant, and performance could suffer, leading to what some change management experts have dubbed
"active inertia" (Page and Kelly, 2008). Based on this information, what would our strategy be if we were a change agent?
