show of force. Capital punishment continues to be a hot topic where the United States is concerned. Most of the other worlds nations in the West have done away with
Capital punishment, determining it to be barbaric and, in the long run, part of the problem, instead of a viable solution. Capital punishment is the
use of death as a punishment for crimes that are considered of high offense. This has been the norm for most of human history, and yet, it would seem, there
are no supporting evidences which show it to be as effective as once thought. Given this, then, and the fact that often innocent people are put to death, is it
ethical to continue this practice? Most argue that the death sentence literally guarantees that this hardened criminal will no longer be around to continue to
perpetrate his crimes. There is, of course, no arguing with the fact that death is a final sentence. However, when one looks at the psychological affects that the victims families
must go through and the psychological damage done to someone who must face life in prison, it would seem that the death sentence is more of a easy way out
for the criminal, and again, victimizes the families. Advocates of the Death penalty offer that it costs too much to keep someone in prison
for the rest of their life. However, this is also not true. According to several statistics which are available, due to the constant appeals processes and the court costs which
