Court decisions have expanded on the rights of employees and the practice of labour and employment law has indeed become specialized to a significant degree (2003). This is due
to the needs of business clients as they are supposed to obtain the highest level of advice that is based on insights into the legislation and the jurisprudence related
to employers (2003). Businesses should receive timely advice on the relevant state of the law in addition to counsel in terms of the anticipated direction of law in the
future (2003). Law in society is important and when businesses are involved, there are a myriad of legal issues they must confront. Within Canada, and any other country, legal issues
loom large. Today, companies scramble to avoid litigation and will appease customers, or settle out of court, simply to either avoid a law suit or bad publicity. So many cases
have emerged during the latter part of the twentieth century, that businesses are hard pressed to come up with a plan that would make sure law suits are avoided. Therefore,
they treat one case at a time. Business law is therefore a very lucrative niche and an important one as well. That said, business law is really made up of
many different topics. Within each of these topics arise pertinent issues. Yates (2001) writes about business law in Canada in general and a few chapters are quite relevant as it
respects the many issues which arise in law. Chapter 4 for example addresses Torts and Professional Liability. Here, it is noted that when defamation suits are waged, there is something
