That is, there are significant differences in religion, customs, traditions, food, laws and so on, but underneath are the same broader values: a desire to provide for ones family, to live a long and healthy life, to have meaningful work and so on. This paper looks at the culture of Pakistan and suggests ways to build a bridge to enhance our understanding of it. Discussion The first point that should be considered is that the Pakistani culture is very diverse, the result of the countrys having been invaded and conquered numerous times in the past (Pakistan culture). At one time or another, Pakistan has been overrun by "White Huns, Persians, Arabs, Turks, Mongols and various Eurasian groups" (Pakistan culture). This has led to regional differences among various ethnic groups in such things as religion, dress and food, "especially where indigenous pre-Islamic customs differ from Islamic practices" (Pakistan culture). This information suggests that the first step is to stop thinking of Pakistan as a monolithic culture, and recognize that it is comprised of numerous groups, each of which should be approached in a way appropriate to that group. One matter of interest is that fact that Indian movies are very popular in Pakistan, despite the fact that relations between the two countries are tense (Pakistan culture). Indian films are "official illegal" in Pakistan, but they can be found across the country (Pakistan culture). The U.S. has Hollywood, India has Bollywood, and Pakistan has "Lollywood," an indigenous movie industry that is now producing more than 40 feature films per year (Pakistan culture).
