well as their sense of safety or security in their classrooms and school. For example, the Stevenson-Carson School District in Washington, developed a district-wide program that focused on enhancing
student self-esteem. As an example, one 6th grade teacher explained "the many activities she conducts to enhance students self-regard and help them build skills in interacting positively with one another":
