Budget and performance reports are a much more critical component of business than many might think.
Budget reports help businesses keep track of their expenditures verses their intake. In the long run these reports allow businesses to access their profitability. They can be
used as a critical tool, in fact, in making business decisions. There are, of course, other considerations in business than strictly profitability. The intent of this paper is
to exam those considerations as they apply to Happy Hospital. Budget and performance reports allow businesses to determine exactly how much
is being spent on different business pursuits and infrastructures. Happy Hospital, for example, should be able to easily access just how much is spent on equipment acquisition and upkeep,
utilities and supplies like medicines and food. These reports also should allow the hospital to determine staff costs as well. These reports delineate income from patients and even
break it down into various categories of care that generate the income. In a black and white world of business, of course, income minus expenditures would equal profit.
The more expenditures could be reduced in conjunction with income being increased the more profit potential the hospital would have. M.E.
