Testament. With that simple foundation in mind the following paper examines two of the worlds major religions, discussing each separately and then comparing and contrasting the two. The religions are
Buddhism and Christianity. Buddhism "Buddhism is the fourth largest religion in the world, being exceeded in numbers only by Christianity, Islam
and Hinduism. It was founded in Northern India by the first known Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama" (Religious Tolerance [2], 2007). It is noted that in 535 BCE he achieved enlightenment and
then became Lord Buddha which means "one who has awakened" (Religious Tolerance [2], 2007). One of the most important elements of the teachings
of Buddha is that which involves the four noble truths. The four noble truths are: understanding that suffering exists, that there are causes for that suffering, that there is an
end to suffering and that there exists a path that will lead to the end of suffering (Religious Tolerance [1], 2007). The believer works or struggles or meditates their way
to enlightenment. The aim of the focus is to achieve an ultimate and final freedom from existence (Religious Tolerance [1], 2007). The mind and the body are imperative in this
