are numerous forms of government around the world and the United States government is just one of those forms of government. Like any government there are positives and negatives about
how the system works, the efficiency of the system, and how the system is used by those who run it. The following paper provides an overview of the branches of
the government in the United States, discussing the history of the branches, the way the system works, and various perspectives concerning the effectiveness of the system. Federal and state issues
are also examined briefly. The Forefathers and the Branches of Government The 3 branches of government are the legislative, judicial, and presidential.
First and foremost, these three branches were put into play so that there could be a balance of power, so that the power to run the nation, and the military,
was not possessed by one branch. It took into account what is called checks and balances which ensures, hypothetically at the very least, that every aspect of the government and
society balances out in relationship to the majority and what is best for the majority. One author illustrates this, and the reasoning of the forefathers, in the following: "The
