claim that the boot camps are generally far too aggressive and that boot camps cause more problems than they solve. But, this does not mean that all forms of boot
camps prove negative. The following paper examines boot camps and the positive benefits seen in boot camps. Boot Camps As mentioned, many people argue that boot camps today do
little to actually change the behavior of children, or do little to teach them how to be better people. One author, for example, notes, "They do not deal with emotional
issues that underlie many adolescent behavioral problems. They emphasize discipline and authoritarian control" (Aspen Education Group, 2006). Another author indicates that, "In addition...state boot camps have had a disturbing history
of abuses, injuries and even deaths, causing many states to phase out or restructure such programs" (Collier, 2001). And, still yet, another individual argues that for the most part youth
exit many boot camps with more problems socializing than they possessed when they went into the boot camp (Lyons, 2006). Much of the negative aspects of boot camp can
likely be traced to the short programs that were so widely heralded as successful by daytime talk shows that seemed to thrive on drama. From another perspective it is noted
that many boot camps are simply envisioned as military schools that really do not attend to any special needs a child may have. In essence, like many youth programs there
