or the writers group. Some are about the King, some are about Torah and others are as just described. Many are written by King David but others are written by
other authors. The compilation of Psalms is also called the Psaltist. Psalm 22 reflects complaints, also called laments, of an individual; Psalm, 137 reflects complaint of a group. Complaints are
typically centered on a situation that is causing the writer to ask God for help in that situation (Bandstra 378). By contrast, Psalm 30 is a prayer of thanksgiving from
an individual and Psalm 129 reflects thanksgiving of a group. Thanksgiving Psalms usually thank God for delivering the individual or group from a distressing or troubling situation (Bandstra 378). In
Psalm 22, the writer begins by asking God why He has forsaken him. The writer identifies all sorts of troubles. He is being scorned, mocked, insulted and he identifies lions,
bulls, and dogs as attacking him. It is a horrendous tale of woe and the writer thinks that God has forsaken him even though he knows he is of lite
importance. He makes numerous promises to God if He will just save him. In Psalm 137, the Israelites are crying for help from the Babylonians who are tormenting them.
In Psalm 30, David is exhausting God for all His goodness. He reminds God of the many blessings God gave David in the past and how David has always praised
