This is expressed in Judges 2:16, which reads, "Then the Lord raised up judges who delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them" (Keathley, 1998). In a broader
view, it is God who is both Israels Judge and the nations Deliverer, as it is Yahweh who judges and then sends times of oppression that serve to drive the
people towards repentance (Keathley, 1998). Historically, Judges occurs between the time of Joshua and the era of the prophet Samuel and the beginning of the reigns of Saul and David.
Within its text, are seven cycles of decline and apostasy; oppression, repentance, and deliverance (Keathley, 1998). The Book of Judges is easily divided into three principal sections: "a double prologue
